Triathlete's journey to learn about commerce and knowledge starts with coaching, courses and membership communities

The doctorate he holds in exercise physiology, conducting studies that are peer reviewed, and coaching Olympians as well as professional Ironman athletes was not enough to satisfy Dan Plews. Dan Plews. Also, he's a triathlete himself and is the 2018 Ironman Age Group World Championship Course Winner record holder. He ran an 8:24:36 time.
As a result of his win, and his extensive education on the subject, he got tons of questions , particularly regarding the lower carbohydrate diet and the best way to use it to long-distance triathlons.

Thus that's why Professor. Plews decided to monetize his skills through EndureIQ, adding 'knowledge creator among his many professions. We'll look into his story.

This interview has been light edited for clarity.

The coaching quickly led to courses

At first the The doctor. Plews started out with direct coaching. He acknowledged that there was the amount he could accomplish through one-on one consultations.

In 2019, Endure IQ got its beginning. "I had so many [questionsand I decided to create a course. Originally I thought, 'Oh I'll create an easy white course can be uploaded to PowerPoint'. Then, I talked with a friend who said, 'Well If you're planning to do it then you should take it seriously.'"

Today, we have four core courses and other mini-courses. Dr. Plews says, "Our core courses are 10-modules long, and they take 10-15 hours of instruction. Customers get access to the course for a time period of 10 to twelve weeks and access to teachers." The classes have been accredited by affiliations such as The American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and USA Triathlon.

Courses start

EndureIQ did a soft launch of their course LDT One-on-One. "We said we were going limit it to the first fifty people who signed up. It went on sale in just 3 minutes." Dr. Plews recalls.

The courses were a hit! But, the response was huge. The Dr. Plews quickly learned his students wanted to keeping access to the materials and instructor-led webinars after they had completed the course.

The situation presented him with the dilemma of having to offer ongoing support. The following is his thoughts about this dilemma:

"I didn't want to have this course on the books for a long time as it would give people the opportunity to ask questions forever and ever that you're at the of the whims and calls but that's not the way education works. If you're a university student taking a class and you're enrolled, you're able to access experts, teachers and the instructor throughout the course, but you won't have the privilege to inquire about them all the time throughout your lifetime."

Generating revenues

Then, Professor. Plews discovered a way to satisfy the demand of customers while generating recurring revenue from these same course materials. His solution: a $5 per week fee for access to course material as well as webinars for those who finish the course.

"I have added this service almost immediately. This is a good choice because we've got a large number of repeat customers,"" He explains.

He charges $5 per week, which gives access to every course students have ever taken, as a loyalty perk for students who have taken multiple classes. Dan has reported that he had 175 members in that education membership group during our discussion. So, he can earn a significant quantity of income every week by simply providing access to materials for the course and being able to reply to inquiries.

Subscription revenue opens doors

In the present, subscriptions bring to the table revenue. The revenue in turn facilitates other potential opportunities for the company.

Dr. Plews says, "The most significant benefit of an online business that is subscription-based is that it permits you to plan your business better. If you can be guaranteed extra revenue it is possible becoming a little more aware of the people you're hiring as well as where you're investing your money, as you're less at risk. In contrast, when you're 100 percent dependent on new sales, you don't know which month will to bring."

He also noted that having an active membership community is another advantage - it provides a pool of people with whom he is able to survey about the creation of new courses, or any other feedback.

But, Dan is realistic about what it takes to maintain the success of a membership-based community. "The disadvantages of it is that it's not ever off," he says, "There is quite a lot of customer support that comes with the subscription model since people constantly have issues."
