Marlene Hielema is also known as Image Maven
Marlene is an amazing photographer and video-based instructor. She is the creator of ImageMaven.com and ImageMavenVideo.com. Explore both websites to find amazing videos along with ideas to improve your video and photography in just a couple of minutes.
What are the main reasons for you to begin online education?
Flash was released in 2004. Marlene was a professor of photography in her class at the community college in her area. Marlene enjoyed having direct contact with her students. Her energy was high, yet she was exhausted.
Her demands grew for her. There was no way to get enough time to relax whenever she wanted "I was just teaching all day long."
Her goal? She would like to be flexible , and remain in a state of being flexible in her schedule.
Marlene states, "I want to enjoy my life... my time is short. I'd love to get a skateboard! I'd like to ride my longboard at the end of the day, without getting ashamed."
The desire to be free and flexible was the inspiration for her creation of a new online class.
From where did she acquire the ideas that she developed?
Marlene was a student at different online photography courses. Marlene was disappointed as the website appeared "clunky." Marlene was thinking about her own "this could be improved in order to make it more user-friendly."
Then she started looking for concepts to create her own course. It was the autumn of 2010, and the instructor started the first course online that was developed by ..
Marlene has eight online courses available on the internet Some are taught by various classes of students.
Her classes include inexpensive, specific, cost-effective classes that are cost-effective and affordable. In addition, she provides more extensive and longer classes (some that last up to eight weeks).
Marlene develops her programs to address specific inquiries that people ask her in email messages "I've received this query at least 10 times over the past 3 months. Maybe I'd like to develop an educational program around this issue!"
She is also aware about the kind of queries people ask about. In the past, for instance, when she first started receiving requests for her videos she'd ask Are you able to offer any suggestions regarding what you could do to create exactly the same video you've created?
Overcoming challenges
Marlene says she's got an issue in selling "I'm typically not a skilled salesperson."
With time the teacher has found ways to reach out and educate people in general and, later, to make students take a class.
She's currently offering the opportunity to receive gratis photography instruction via email. After 10 lessons, there is the option of purchasing software.
Though she was wary of selling at first, Marlene now says "I often offer classes that students can choose an opportunity that they enjoy and then purchase the curriculum."
An effective business model built upon classes
One of the main aspects to learn from Marlene is the idea that the education system as well as the services (one-on-one meetings with one person) are interlinked.
Her courses can give you an opportunity for one-on-one client support. When you've completed the course "people are simply looking for assistance and are ready to shell out for it."
Students who are in a class that requires video may require help with editing as well as video production. Photographers may require help by a tutor who is a private one and technical assistance.
In her statement, she states, "My revenue has increased more through my clients than the increase I observed due to the classes I teach."
Courses are extremely useful as a product on their own and are stronger when they're paired with other options.
Marlene can also enhance her services by providing classes. Marlene tells clients "If I get hired in my first year of employment, I'll be thankful.
(for consultation) (for consulting) (for consultation) for free." Her courses are attractive to prospective clients.
Engaging students
Marlene makes use of her classes in order to make relationships with her students, and not just for the purpose to share the latest news. Marlene has observed that, generally "People have less confidence on the web."
Students are engaged in conversations and active participation in the class of instruction "I answer every question, to all emails."
Marlene says that her work brings satisfaction and fulfillment to her "I teach, and I'm enthusiastic about helping others... I enjoy watching my students reach their objectives! It's the same as having the pride of a mother when you look at your students in the video and present them with amazing white backgrounds, which I've helped in the making of. My goal is to help individuals who have been overwhelmed."
Future strategies
The outlook for the coming years is positive for Marlene. Marlene is looking to build on the success of her current course. Marlene is planning on "relaunching as well as revitalising her current classes, as well as creating attractive selling pages, and increasing the level of quality of all her courses."
Additionally, she strives to design at least one or two classes per year that are according to the specific needs of her particular community. She elaborates on the reasons to this "I've never created courses that are complete from start to finish." Her mind is always thinking what's being discussed by others?, and builds courses that meet the requirements from her students.
The teacher is hoping to collaborate with specialists to come up with innovative ideas to develop courses. In one case she collaborated with a counselor in the creation of an idea for self-care and growth"Take break" the Self-Care Photographer.
Marlene's best tips and suggestions for a successful online class getting started by laying the foundation
1. Do it! Make it happen!
Marlene discusses with us "My first class comprised approximately 20 students as well as 10 classmates. The experience was rewarding!"
Now is the time to stop making excuses of postponing your tasks for a time for you to begin. Start with a safe and secure way to begin regardless of whether or not you're looking to hire new members at no cost!
It is possible to overcome any obstacle you encounter in the course of your very first lesson! Be confident and try it.
Don't focus too much on getting things completed the first time People will be able to.
#2 Connect
You must create emotional bonds between you and the student and you. Make sure you create connections with them.
If they think that what they've learned from you is helpful then they'll most likely ask questions which you'll be able to answer to and be capable of learning through their mistakes.
If they are able to confide in them, they're in a position to assist them.
Be part of discussions by replying to questions and asking questions.
#3 3. Show Yourself
Bring your individuality and look into your social circle. Marlene acknowledges "I have a lot of sexiness in the YouTube channels I run." She also lets her character shine on instructional tutorials, and videos in which she builds connections of love with the students she coaches.
