Jo Kelly isn't your average acting coach.
In reality, she doesn't make use of the word "teacher" even once "I am not that teaches people to be a certain way" she adds. "I assist people in not being a person."
Through experiential exercises, Jo coaches mainly actors as well as artists of all sorts as well as non-artist "seekers" on the best ways for them to attain the inner peace and become their true self. In this way, actors are able to cease acting and begin to be. "I am hoping to become an midwife rather than a professor, as I help people come back to who they are and being renewed" she says.
She believes that the success of actors is their fulfillment and confidence to fully commit themselves to their role. "When you are secure fully, your story as well as the general public are impacted," she explains.
Her distinctive method of guiding performers helps them to tap to their inner child's fascination as well as curiosity and enjoyment. What exactly does that mean? They deliver authentic, real and genuine performances.

Jo was a unique route to acting.
Born in Belgium She completed her MBA before specializing on human resources management as well as psychosystemic psychology. In the following years, she was involved in corporate coaching. "The business world has never seemed as though it was my thing," she shares. "I determined to quit everything and move to Paris and begin afresh. ."
A big part of her fresh start was to try her hand at acting, something she was in the love of. She was a hard-working, passionate person and put every penny and effort into learning the techniques to be the best actor she can be.
Although she was committed to her craft, she says she was a competent actor, but not an outstanding actor. Similar to others they were plagued with stage fear. "Most of my cast members experienced the same fear," she says. "We were all extremely committed, however, when the time came to perform we were nervous ."
The actress was interested to know the factors that prevented her, and others, from being great actors. "My fascination became an obsession" the actress admits. "I would like to understand what makes actors committed and devoted decrease as they get ready to perform ."
Then, in the years following, she researched how actors could feel blocked. Her study led to an understanding that whenever children play, they're at liberty. If adults play similar to children it's been stripped of their independence because of societal expectations. "When I realized that, I took the remainder of my day to help actors to unlearn their habits to allow them to be themselves and perform like they did previously," explains Jo.
She started her coaching
Jo's research experience inspired her to investigate different somatic tools and practices, which she then tried on others by individual or group coaching at the beginning of 2000. In the following years the company was renamed To Be Or Not To Act.
After that, she realized that those who she was working with weren't accountable. "No whatever dedication my coworkers were, they didn't be able to turn every day. Although we met 3 times per week there was no responsibility between meetings. The ball would be dropped without a problem if they were not with me." Jo says. Jo.
The idea was that classes online could aid students stay consistent with their schedules. Online classes are offered in the form are "journeys," and the beginning of the journey she takes students on is The Reset: From Resistance to Freedom--which she developed in the year 2014. "I created The Reset so that I could be able to hold hands of people for the entire duration of 33 days," she explains.
"Since the website is live, users are able to do this at their own pace and set their own agenda."
Jo is of the belief that humans are born with a genuine nature, but the societal norms force us to act as we think, feel and behave the way we are. According to her, the purpose for The Reset is for people to do daily exercise routines that aid in removing their conditioned behavior and revert back to their original instincts. Every day, within The Reset, Jo offers recordings of exercises. Furthermore, she gives two questions and answers as well as 2 hours of work in groups using pods. She also offers a semi-Q&A session where Jo responds to frequently asked questions on the group on Facebook that is exclusive to members.
The flexibility provided by the online experience allows Jo's members to do the sessions from any place anytime, no matter if they are awake, prior to when they sleep, or whenever they are able to. "The greatest thing is that it allows them to make sessions that fit in with their lives," she explains.
She built an online business that allowed her to live a life she wanted
When Jo first started her on-line Reset process, Jo offered every day a session available via her website. The following year, she changed her name to Reset after she was urged to join by her coach. "You have people who know the way you're going, but I don't" she states smiling.
Since moving into coaching industry, Jo's routine has changed. In her first interview she was on the phone from the hospital where she was with her daughter. "Eight years ago, my daughter was born to a genetic specification and requires hospital visits every month," she shares.
" It allows me to be a mom and handle the rest of my own life, while maintaining an online business that's running, even when I am in hospital, while my daughter receives her monthly transfusions," she continues. "Working online lets me take care of my daughter in the way I would like, as well as be in her home all the time to take care of her. It allows me to take a trip for medical needs while still being able to be a part of a profession I'm enthusiastic about, and without worry. ."
The subsequent trips were her own inventions.
When people have completed The Reset, they have an option to join the three-month course known as the Purposeful Actor. The Purposeful Actor course is a three-hour session lasting 12 weeks. "The students here have some more to do to themselves with regards to responsibility and showing themselves. There are some guidelines which they have to follow every day and they shouldn't be relying on me to achieve it. They have to find their own objectives, and that is why they are at this point." Jo shares.
Jo will also be hosting Q&A sessions through the journey of the Purposeful Actor that take place every three weeks. Once people have successfully completed the Purposeful Journey and are prepared to go on the road, they are able to sign up for a year-long membership called BAMF Actors In Action, in reference to Bad-Ass Mother from F***king Actors In Action. "I started this program because people who had completed the two walks wanted to continue working on the route," she says.
The membership program has been in operation for four years. It provides a content-based meeting every month, as well as group activities through weekly sessions, weekly Q&As with Jo along with a 6 hour summit that occurs each three months. "The membership allows people to determine the best way to get out into the world in order in order to achieve what they're supposed to do, be connected with the workplace and create the content they'd like to make as well as improve their craft," she explains.
She has trained performers of all types
As per Jo she is of the opinion that the vast majority of her clients in her journeys are actors. However, there are many other kinds of artists like performers, storytellers, dancers and musicians, as well as regular folks who "want to move through their conditioning," such as mothers and professional athletes like television hosts, pro athletes and therapy experts. "Freedom is a concern to anyone who wants to express themselves fully," she says.
Since the journeys are offered in English, they attract people all over the world. "We get people from all continents, but mostly America, Europe, and Australia," she shares.
Most of her fans are within the 20-50 group. There are also people who have entered the third decade of life, which is when they join. it's not uncommon to have her welcome people aged 70 or even 80s to her shows.
The client let her handle the talking
If it's about marketing her travels Jo says the word is being spread through the use of spoken word.
On the home page of her website, she's placed the video reel of her testimonial. This provides proof of social standing and increases the trustworthiness of the work she puts into her work. Visitors to her website can sign up to her newsletter through her site. To collect email addresses, she gives a couple of free workshops as lead magnets including: Stop Believing You're a Good Actor so you have the chance of being Excellent as well as the Instinctive Actor. In addition to helping aid in obtaining her reader's details, they also offer individuals a chance to experience the way she teaches.
Additionally, she is the owner of an Instagram page with over 10,000 followers and receives external press by interviews on different podcasts, blogs as well as magazines.
She picked a value-for-money price
Jo will do everything to ensure that her travels are economical to everyone as actors usually earn a fluctuating salary. "If you attended an acting class once every week, it will be between $300 and $400. The majority of time that you'll be sitting down to watch others perform the scenes but occasionally, you'll get to take on the role," she said.
"These internet-based travel services provide a cheaper option," continues Jo. "The advantages of traveling with us are 10 times more than what we can offer for." ."
The Reset costs below $1000 USD. Purposeful Actor cost $1,250 USD. Membership costs $270 USD per month.
She was at the zenith of genius at its finest.
Although she's the chief Of To Do Or Not To Act, Jo is firm in wanting to only spend more time working on her creative side, which is in coaching and creating material. Jo does not believe she's a tech expert and prefers to remain "in the flow" doing what she does best. "The rest of the tasks to run the business aren't something I'm particularly interested in since it's not my area of expertise." she says.
Jo says her success is attributable to a coach she hired in the beginning. Then, it came time to design permanent journeys, she decided to take risk and signed up for a class of $20k to assist her in achieving it. "It was an enormous amount of money, which meant I was required to take out 50% of it. But, I'm glad that I was able to do it," she shares.
She believes that it's possible for anyone to create a profitable online course business. But, she advises that this isn't an easy task.
"It demands dedication and tenacity It is essential to be really passionate about the work you're doing. In my case, this is all I've done since switching jobs in my 20s, and that's the only thing I'll undertake. This passion is the reason that I will persevere when things get tough and I'm not going to quit. ."
Her idea was born out of her soul.
She advises online creators to be honest about the difficult effort to create an online business. She advises you to only accept the responsibility in the case that their subject is a subject that's close to their hearts.
"The danger now is that when you join social media, everybody has a coaching background and everybody claims that you can make millions of dollars in just minutes, however that's not true," says Jo. "It is a truth that when you have the values you're most committed to, you will reach people who are bigger than that of your neighbors. But it takes legwork, as well as falling, and getting back up again. You need to be coached as well as putting in the cash and time until you feel the foundation has been set. ."
As Jo says, when you create a business from your heart it gives you the strength to persevere through the hard times.
"An online enterprise isn't simply an opportunity to make money. It should be built from your heart, from what you're meant to do. If you don't, you'll drop the ball as it'll be too difficult to handle." she shares.
"If you're doing it with legitimate reasons, you'll be able to take on any challenges. If you're looking to make a quick buck, it won't be possible to accept these difficulties. The best advice I can provide is to stay true to the things that you love to do. You have to be at the top for the work you're performing due to the high degree of rivalry. You must feel confident about what you're working on. ."
She was true to her craft
To answer questions regarding trending in online courses that will be evident in 2024 Jo believes that there will always be a surplus of online courses. Jo believes that the main distinction between "McDonald's" courses and the "gourmet" classes is courses that are designed using a method which is authentic.
"When there's plenty of things to do, you'll see two kinds of work online. There will be McDonald's style courses and then there will be gourmet courses. Everyone is going to have some plan to achieve one way or another with your life that won't come from a legitimate source. Some people have been at it for a long time," she says.
For creating an unforgettable culinary experience she suggests that you return to your heart.
"There is a huge potential for anyone with a firm foot in their heart and a desire to do good," she continues. "The people who require what you have to offer can find them ."
"I'm happy that it lets us connect as human beings to our values. It's incredible."
