What's your history?

"My moniker is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I am an illustrator, animator, and GIF artist based in Brooklyn, New York. In my work as a professional I make motion graphics, animated illustrations and storyboards for explainers videos and applications. But what I really love to do as a side project is make fun and quirky cartoons and stickers that can make anyone smile and help them be themselves."

"I have a family in Taiwan and was enrolled in high school for fine art when I was little. I've always loved drawing, but slowly I got stuck by a very traditional education way of life. I was feeling like I could not express my personal style and personality using the conventional tools in art. Learning about fine art definitely helped me to build the foundation for where I am now."

"I went into design college in my college and moved into New York for grad school. This was when I started experimenting with digital animations as well as animation. Animation provided me with the ability to blend animation and motion to tell stories in a dynamic method. I really enjoyed discovering how to make still images come to life."

What is your style of animation?

"I frequently find myself expressing myself through fun, colourful and quirky styles. It is my belief that smiling is the most reliable way to judge the quality of work. "

What's the secret to making your animated graphics?

"I love to work with the sense of humor and powerful emotions that make people feel at ease, while exploring different media and creating my own unique style of design. The process of designing can be really fun!"

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I like how individuals come up with ideas as a group, and I believe that good work typically is made by a collection comprised of individuals with different strengths and skill sets.

In daily life, I wouldn't stop creating things that make me feel inspired. When not designing or making motion graphics, I can find myself making chaos in my kitchen (lots in cooking) and creating crafts. I often travel to Brooklyn farmers markets , and play with various ingredients at home. The world is full of wonderful things. I love to travel and explore diverse communities, cultures and innovative artwork."
