What's your story?
"My name is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I am an illustrator, animator and GIF artist based in Brooklyn, New York. For my professional work, I create motion graphics, animated illustrations as well as storyboards to explainers for videos and applications. What I like to do on the side is to make funny and fun cartoons and stickers that make people smile and help them communicate their ideas."

"I have a family in Taiwan and started with the fine arts school as a child. I was always drawn to drawing but slowly I got stuck in a strict education method. I felt that I could not express my personal style and personality using the traditional tools of art. Learning about fine art definitely helped me to build the foundation for where I am today."

"I changed to design school in college and moved in New York for grad school. It was then that I began to experiment using animations and digital art. Animation provided me with the power to combine animation and motion to convey a message with a lively manner. I really enjoyed learning how I could make still images come to life."

What would you say about the style of your animations?
"I usually enjoy expressing myself with fun, vibrant and quirky styles. I believe that smiles are the most reliable way to judge successful work. "

What's the secret in creating your animation graphics?
"I am a fan of working with a sense of humor plus strong emotions that help people feel at ease, while using different media, as well as creating an original style of design. The process of designing can be really entertaining!"

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I enjoy how people generate ideas in the team, and also believe that great work usually is built by a group that has distinct strengths and abilities.
Everyday, I'm always creating new items that inspire me. When not designing motion-based graphics, I'll be found making a messy mess around the house (lots cook!) or making crafts. I often travel to Brooklyn farmers markets and experiment using various recipes at home. The world is filled with amazing things. I am a sucker to travel and explore diverse communities, cultures as well as innovative art."
