Although many children begin their entrepreneurial journey by selling sweets to friends, Morgan Hipworth took his youthful interest in food and cooking to the next level. The young founder behind popular Australian bakery Bistro Morgan, developed an interest in food through cooking programs when he was just seven years old.
"I observed other kids watching on television pursuing their goals and I thought to myself, 'If they're capable of it, I could achieve it too,'" Morgan says. And he turned that belief into action "Each week, I'd prepare three meals for my family and parents, serving up my creations in the dining room of my parents' house," he says. "I later extended my customer base to extended families, serving freshly baked desserts to celebrate birthdays or other events." When he was 13 years old, he was encouraged by the local café, and was then solely responsible for its supplies of baked goods and sweets.
Make customers part of the story of your brand
"Being able to tell the story of your business and bring customers along has been a fundamental element of developing a loyal customer database," he says. "Connection is the top priority, and is the factor that turns a once-in-a-lifetime client into a loyal one who'll support you for life."
