Karl Ferguson Jr.

Karl is a believer in the idea that your work should fund your passion, until it is a part of your daily routine. Karl has been able to accomplish just that: through balancing work and his love of portrait photography. A glance on the website will be awestruck by the amount of people that he has shot in the field of entertainment. Karl's online presence has allowed him to present his work to a plethora of customers with ease. "One among my top qualities is the ease with that I can transfer images by dragging and dropping them and rearrange them at a moment's need," Karl says.

The involvement of the community has played an important role in Karl's photographic success. Sharing ideas with fellow Black photographers helps him feel a sense of camaraderie within an industry that could be lonely at times. Karl is hoping to give back by advancing his career in hopes that the same sort of community for the upcoming artists in the industry. "Paying it forward involves making myself accessible," Karl says. In sharing his knowledge as well as his knowledge, Karl hopes to help others to become the most innovative that they could be.

If you asked him what advice Karl would give to a younger version of him, someone who is just beginning their photography journey, Karl's suggestion is "Don't become so enthralled that you lose interest in making. Being patient and enjoying your process is one of the main things you can do when you are a photographer."

"Black In Corporate

Ambassador and social media specialist Candace Marie is the founder of Black In Corporate The Black In Corporate group that advocates for Black individuals working in the corporate world. The idea for Black In Corporate came through her personal experience of working in environments where systematic racism is making it challenging for Black workers to achieve success. "While Black In Corporate was result of my personal personal experience," Candace says, "a major reason behind the creation of the organization was that I was aware that there were several Black people in my network with experiences that were similar in some cases, even identical to my personally."

One of the numerous pillars Black In Corporate has been founded on is the virtual mentorship program that gives Black professionals access to opportunities, resources, and collaboration. The site of Black In Corporate has been pivotal in promoting the benefits of this program to its target public. "While the media and social media are major drivers for traffic, the beautiful style and user-friendly navigation page ensures that our customers remain interested and return," Candace says about the impact of their website.

The saying "it requires the entire village" is particularly true for Candace as she has travelled through the birth of Black In Corporate. The business's growth is possible because of the support of the mentors, sponsors, friends and family members who have helped her along through the process. In so many ways, Candace offers this same level of assistance to Black professionals. "This process is difficult enough without a partner," she says. "Whenever I'm in a position to offer any advice, join an advisory panel or provide an introduction to a contact to a coworker, I'm taking a serious approach to support all the Black members of this community."

Elton Anderson Jr.

Over the course of 14 years Elton Anderson Jr. worked in the photography field, which included shooting celebrity photographers as well as the top brands. He made the decision to alter his path following noticing the job he'd always been passionate about was not as satisfying. After a serious case of malaria that occurred while travelling to Brazil, Elton vowed to devote his entire life in making himself better and people surrounding him.

Presently, Elton is doing just that with the work every day. In addition to seeking out new opportunities including creative director, producer as well as host of a television travel show, Elton has also created Creators of Color which is a platform that tells stories of Black creators from a variety of industries.

For Elton taking these adjustments is essential to the creative process. The suggestion Elton provides to young Black creatives seeking to switch careers is to follow their intuition. "If there's no reason to affirm a Yes, it's a no," Elton says. "This mantra has helped me transform my career in a way that is more productive and authentic to me."

If you're an artist such as Elton with a variety of projects to work on, digital marketing plays an important role in telling the story of his life. Elton's aim is to become a "Master Storyteller." His websites along with his social media accounts allow Elton to achieve exactly that. "I make my site an opportunity to let people be able to enter, take a seat and meet my personality," Elton says. "My social media platforms allow you to follow the path with me at any time."
