How to get out of overwhelm as a coach -

Jun 21, 2024

Many coaches I've spoken to are feeling pretty overwhelmed with all the things they have to complete.

It's not easy to determine who their dream customer is.

They have too many offers.

They do too many things to attempt to create attention and lead.

It's not easy for them to figure out how to sign up people for their program.

They have too many applications that require them to bond with the use of rubber bands and zaps.

They work too hard for their clients and end up burning out, even though they enjoy their coach.

Do any of these resonate with you?

There are three types of stress that I frequently observe coaches suffering from:

Strategy overwhelm

Overwhelmed Client

Systems are overwhelmed

Let's take a look each one at a.

Strategy overwhelm

In terms of strategies, the majority of coaches have several offers. They're doing too many things to try and get attention and get leads, but often, they aren't able to decide which type of customer to go after.

They're also not clear of how they'd like sell to draw people into their programs.

In the beginning you'll be experimenting. That's okay.

You really need to nail those Five Ones.

Five Ones: The Five Ones say that if you focus upon...

One avatar

One traffic source

One offer

One enrollment mechanism

A year in the making

It is possible to earn a million dollars in revenue.

When you've reached your million dollars Don't think about creating a second avatar, a different traffic source, another offer, or a second enrollment process.

Coaches who aren't making enough money to pay the salaries they'd like to think that they should to increase their offerings as well as more items, avatars, and more sources of traffic ... every step in the hope of expanding their market so they can bring in more clients.

In the opposite actually the situation.

You need to narrow down. Be precise. Choose.

It's about taking the right decision.

It's all about making a choice, and making it right.

There is a way to make one of them work.

Pick one, and stick to it until you hit the million dollars.

I am aware of how difficult this can be.

But with the right mentoring and support, you can make any of them succeed.

If someone else has succeeded at it, then you can do it too.

Then it's just figuring out the details.

Client Overwhelm

Although coaches enjoy coaching and love our clients but sometimes, it's too much.

When you're doing lots of one-on-one work with clients, it's not hard to become exhausted.

You're constantly saying these same phrases time and time again.

It's that feeling you get when there's something absolutely brilliant just coming out of your body during the course of a session with a client, but you don't be able to pinpoint the source. It feels fantastic!

Now you're upset that a lot of people will not be able to experience your magic, because you're saying it in a private 1:1 meeting!

Certain coaches don't just do 1:1 work, but they're also doing the work on behalf of the clients. A done-for-you type model.

And yes, you can increase your fees so that you are paid more to coach and perhaps take on less clients.

But it's fundamentally not scaleable.

What is scalable is doing group coaching.

Develop a program for groups in which you collaborate with your customers simultaneously.

The template, the framework as well as live group coaching and a community.

Not only do they get you, but they also get each other.

This means that, as the number of clients grows, so does the value of your program.

If you're not already offering group coaching or if having a group coaching program is not the core of your business, then it should be your top priority, and it should definitely be your "One offer" within your Five Ones.

Systems Overwhelm

It's pretty common these days to own five, seven, nine, or even more different programs to run your coaching business.

Website host such as Wordpress or Wix

Email marketing software or an ESP (Email Service Provider) similar to MailChimp or ConvertKit

Shopping cart like Shopify or Samcart

Course platform or LMS like Teachable or Kajabi

Video host like Vimeo or Wistia

Funnel software or a page creator like ClickFunnels or LeadPages

Community software such as Circle or MightyNetworks

Scheduler such as Calendly or SavvyCal

Survey Tool such as TypeForm, or SurveyMonkey

Affiliate tracking tool such as Tapfiliate and Post Affiliate Pro

Pipeline for Sales similar to Pipedrive or Close.com

CRM like Hubspot or Ontraport

Zapier to join them all in!

There's some overlap with this list, as many of these tools perform multiple things.

There are others that are also frequently used, but I did not mention.

You see the list gets pretty long pretty quick.

It's not just adding an enormous monthly bill.

This also means a lot of additional work and mental bandwidth for you.

Then there's the exhaustion of deciding on each of these tools.

For each category listed, there are numerous alternatives, and they each have some strengths and drawbacks, and some of them are in multiple categories.

You have to evaluate them all, then decide on the one you'll choose Then figure out how they integrate with the rest of your stack.

It's then time for the integration.

Do they speak directly to one another, or are you required to utilize Zapier in order to "zap" them together?

This is another headache, as the connections are fragile.

They'll fail, especially during your vacation and it's your responsibility (or your staff if they already have one and they're able to solve the issue) and to make it right.

And then there's the mental strain of needing to switch between softwares, each of which is performing things in a different way.

This causes a lot of context switching in which you have to change work style every few minutes.

If your logo appears at more than four locations then it's time to find a more effective alternative.

With NO zaps.

There is no glue.

There are no rubber bands.

All your business operations in the same place.

Like finding your home on the border.

All the components communicate easily with each other.

The clients you have on your database only need to input their data only once and then you will can store it stored in your database.

It is possible to connect your opt-in form to them scheduling a strategy session with you.

Easy. Clean. Simple.
