Fantasy illustration - The CreativeMindClass Blog

What would you say about your style?

It's somewhere between stylized and realistic illustration. I use a lot of muted and aquatic color palettes and prefer to use natural, fluid shapes. I think my "style" as an illustrator is heavily determined by my color palette as well as the subjects that I decide to paint however, not how the painting is done. I was previously working with a more linear style but I've recently been transitioning into a looser and more expressive style.

What's the secret to making your artworks of fantasy?

I'm constantly re-examining them until the image looks closest to the way I see it in my head (within reason, otherwise I'd devote months to a single painting). I try really hard to challenge my ideas to the limit and never settle for a mediocre illustration. I'd prefer to take a long amount of time getting the dreamy illustration perfect instead of rushing through the process.

What are the best places to show the fantasy drawings you've created?

I'll be a part of the upcoming "Oceans and Currents" exhibition on display at Gallery Nucleus during July! While you wait, you can find me via Instagram. There are prints available through my store Bandcamp for those who are interested!

And I also have a Youtube as well as Bandcamp for those interested in the music I'm releasing since I'll be releasing new songs shortly.

I received my degree at The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I work currently in the entertainment art industry as an illustrator and concept artist. I also have an ongoing creative project called Pearl Farm, for which I create illustrations. I write, and sing original songs.

The article illustrations are drawn from my own work, Pearl Farm. This is my story that I wrote that follows a travel troubadour called Vinny as well as her pet ray Hubble while they travel their way across the world called"the Lofty Coastline.
