If I had to choose one word to represent my drawing style, it would be 'Spring'.
I want people to see my illustrations and feel like the way they're blossoming like a warm spring of blossoming flowers.
Cottagecore is my lifestyle that I prefer and cherish. It could be because I live in Seoul the largest city in Korea and I love the natural beauty and rural lifestyle much more than what I catch in their sight daily.
So rather than spreading intensity rather, I try to convey a serene and serene mood that is like what I observe in nature.
What's the secret for creating illustrations?
First, I'd like to share the things that I find inspiring in. I find joy even in the smallest of items. The flowers I encounter in the garden, the whispers of flowers that flutter when wind blows and even a little blossom at the corner of the street that I walk by when walking.
My work is mostly in the style of small wildflowers. Nature-inspired landscapes taken from ancient botanical encyclopedias as well as rural landscapes are also a source of sources of inspiration. I save a lot of information through images and frequently take notes on coloring pencil concepts.
Then, let's look at the method of working. I sketch to the degree of elaborate details as if they were real flowers and I convey my emotions with color.
I employ sharp colored pencils that precisely depict the form that the flowers take. Then I create a relaxing and warm atmosphere by employing pastels instead of intense colors.
It is also my preference to put simple and rough paper by using the technique of paper flowers to create the impression of flowers blooming.
Rather than simply drawing instead, I believe that creating papers with flowers can create a greater sense of beauty. It's a more precise translation of my imagination.
