Celebrate History and Embracing Progression: International Women's Day 2024

Mar 20, 2024

Each year, on March 8, everyone gathers for celebration of International Women's Day (IWD). It's a day when we celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of women, reflect on their challenges, and pledge to build a future where equality truly prevails. Looking back, this moment was not born in a single day. It's the culmination of years of battle, perseverance and an unwavering dedication. That's why we are celebrating IWD and encourage everyone to be part of the celebration in an enlightening journey through the long and rich background of IWD which is a proof that the effectiveness continues to grow from the collective effort.

Starting by planting Seeds of Change to a worldwide movement

The seeds for IWD were sown during the beginning of the 20th century. That was when the fight for women's rights began to gain momentum. On March 8 in 1857, female workers protested in the streets in protest against low working conditions and a lack of conditions for women working in the field of textiles. The strike demanded lower time for work as well as fair wages for living. In the years following, on March 8, a march by women working who worked in needlework was held in protest against child labor, the conditions of work in sweatshops and to insist that women have the right to vote. Two years later in 1910 the date of March 8th was made a year-round observed to be International Women's Day.

Change is a catalyst

In the 20th century, IWD was a powerful power for positive change. It provided a platform where women could speak up and raise their voice in areas including the right to vote, fair work conditions and wages, as well as the right to access education. In 1975, IWD was recognized by the United Nations officially recognized IWD which affirmed the global importance of IWD.

It is an opportunity to recognize outstanding women in every field that range from scientists, artists and even activists and entrepreneurs. However, IWD isn't just an occasion to be celebrated, it's also a chance to call for actions. It's a reminder that the fight for equality between genders is far from ending. We must continue to advocate for equal opportunities, combat negative stereotypes and be supportive of women and girls everywhere. The central theme of International Women's Day 2024 is " Invest in Women: Accelerating Progress" with the globally promoted hashtag, "#InvestInWomen..
