Art and authenticity - The CreativeMindClass Blog

The process of connecting to your authentic self. The core of who one is.

Angela Maria Sierra, a Spaniard-born artist, depicts her true herself and the emotions she's feeling. It is evident in her figures with rich emotional lives, full of sensitivity as well as ease and happiness.

Her name is more well-known in the world of art as Riso Chan, a portrait artist and an artist who is currently a teacher in The Netherlands. She just started her new art journey by creating videos and the creation of her own YouTube channel! It's something that she wanted to do for a long period of. In bravery, despite the awkwardness of speaking to a camera, she released a fun-to-watch video about herself working, her life, and her creative surroundings.

Artist Vlog - Riso Chan

Riso Chan talks about accepting her sensitive true self through art:

My work is extremely emotional. I work on portraits of the feelings I am feeling. I was always a very sensitive and sensitive person. Since I was a child I've had a feeling that always felt a bit uneasy and I attempted to ignore it. (...) When you get older and realize that it's alright and everyone feels differently. I decided to make use of all of the emotion I bring to my everyday day life to begin painting. It is a way to boost my imagination and spark new ideas. This is astonishing because of what I've been trying to push down for all of my life, all of a sudden I was able to put it on sheet of paper and it seemed like a great relief. Finally, there is a place where I can utilize this feeling, and I can utilize these feelings as well as joys, sorrows and feelings and write them down. The experience was truly wonderful and brought me to a place that was filled with gratitude. The experience began to resonate with a number of others too. I began to open to putting ideas onto paper that I had have never considered before. Instead of trying to look similar to other artists who had were already "made it" I listened to what I wanted to convey and what I want to express as an individual. I embraced something that I didn't like about myself and I realised it is actually my superpower. I'm really content being the most sensitive me.
