5 reasons to join our New Slack Community: Global SaaS Leadership •

Mar 23, 2022

The version that is TL;DR of this article reads like this:

  • We have just launched a brand fresh (free!) Slack community: Global SaaS Leaders.
  • The program is open to the leaders of established SaaS and software companies (including founders! ).

The reason we're launching a no-cost Slack group

Because communities are awesome!

No, seriously.

Yes, there are others SaaS and software-based communities in the world. Many of them are great.

However, when we considered creating the kind of community that wouldlike to be a member of, we realized that there was an opportunity to create something brand new.

We created Global SaaS Leaders as a place with five distinctive characteristics:

1. Global perspective

We found many SaaS and software communities which were U.S.-based or focused on a particular location.

Global SaaS Leaders will be different. may be located within the U.S., but our customers and the broader SaaS community is spread out throughout the world..

As we grow the community, we'll become conscious of establishing a broad membership and a global perspective.

2. Created for the top executives from established software and SaaS companies.

The most interesting software-related conversations we could find on the web were around beginning the first SaaS company.

These conversations are beneficial for those looking to begin building a SaaS.

We discovered that it's quite difficult to find helpful discussions between the leaders of well-established software and SaaS firms.

That's why we've decided to establish an online community of SaaS entrepreneurs who think about expanding and scaling up an established software company and not focusing on building minimally feasible products or seeking seed funding.

If you're a lifestyle entrepreneur who has an unfunded SaaS which is currently generating $10,000 per month, we want to help you connect with other entrepreneurs similar to you.

The same applies if you're the development leader at a venture-backed start-up that just crossed $10 million per year.

We will focus on that in Global SaaS Leaders: to provide a forum in which you can discuss the specific challenges you face after you reach product-market fit and begin to grow.

3. Professionally moderated

It requires a committed and talented moderator (or group of moderators!) to establish a positive and welcoming culture within a community.

We've learned a lot by observing the Reddit community, r/entrepreneur for example.

However, even communities with high-quality amenities like this struggle at times with focus. It's interesting that the No. #1 thread of the year an angry post on how cryptocurrency has been overwhelming the feed:

Katie Stephan and Nathan Collier (authors of this post!) is the initial moderation team when we start the Global SaaS Leaders community.

We have spent more than an entire decade of moderating online communities with thousands of members.

And building and launching the community is a part of our job descriptions.

The conversation will remain focused on SaaS and software -- and we'll ensure that you won't have to deal with spam, unsolicited offers and personal attacks. trolling in any form.

4. It is not specifically focused on venture capital or funding rounds

We don't care if you're financially strapped, venture-funded, private equity purchased, or some other type of ownership.

Global SaaS Leaders won't be a event that is primarily focused on funding rounds or exit strategies.

In addition, we want to create a place to have discussions about hiring, revenue and profit tools and pricing strategies, technological infrastructure, as well as anything that is related to building an effective software company.

It's fine if members occasionally have discussions about financing. However, it shouldn't be the only conversation.

5. The most supportive SaaS and software community on the internet.

Certain online communities can be dangerous areas.

Whoever you are, wherever you're from and no matter your background, we want you to feel comfortable posting and participating in our forum.

Katie as well as I are going to do everything that we can to cultivate a positive, supportive culture in this new community. We will also ensure that we won't tolerate personal attacks, bigotry, discrimination based on gender, race, or any other disrespectful behaviour.

Our goal is nothing anything less than to create the most supportive SaaS and software-based community online.
